Diamine Exclusive – Bloody Absinth

Another Diamine sheen exclusive but this time it’s for Seitz Kreuznach. And the name is totally appropriate – Bloody Absinth! Nice…

A deep rich green serious sheening ink, Bloody Absinth (no ‘e’) bleeds out greens and bright turquoise with tiny hints of Royal blue and even yellow when blended with water. Scroll down to check out the fabulous ‘chromo’ painting at the end! What more do you need me say?

When dry, the concentrated areas dry a heavy metal red. Check out that blot! Depending on your paper surface the ink writes as a very deep green with strong hints of red sheen in evidence.

Tests conducted on Bockingford 200lb rough, Rhodia dot matrix and Tamoe River papers using a Noodler’s Creeper pen. Now available from Seitz Kreuznach.

How close is this one to Smoke on the Water. It looks somewhat similar. Thanks for the review and the beautiful artwork!

  Hi Mary. Thanks for your comments. In answer to your question yes it is similar to Smoke on the Water but at the same time it is different. Diamine can’t produce one ink and just rename it for each client as an exclusive. The variations are there, they are subtle and can include: the concentration of the ink affecting the sheen density and coverage, the shade of colour, tone of colour, hue of colour, the chromatic qualities of the ink or the dry time. The variations are there, but at times they are so subtle that when used for writing alone, they are hardly noticeable. My chromatic swatch test is arguably one of the most effective to fully identify visual differences. Hope this helps?

I was thinking this, when dry, Bears a striking resemblance to Communication Breakdown, especially in the thin vertical example (directly above the trees). I can see the difference, though, in the actual writing example. For myself, I think I prefer the green in this versus that in CB.
