Introducing Throttle Bottom and Damp Squib – two Diamine exclusives produced for online UK stationers Art from the Heart which are to be released imminently.

The middle alphabet is a blend of the 2 inks with tiny drops of bleach added in places

Throttle Bottom is a delightful blue green teal colour with a metallic rose sheen and a gold shimmer. There is also decent chromo action here and bleach reactions in lesser ink concentrated areas. This reminds me of Herbin’s Emeraude de Chivor – a true classic.

Damp Squib is a very concentrated dark chocolate ink which when dry reveals a strong metallic green sheen. There is also decent chromo action here with bleach reactions in lesser ink concentrated areas.

Whether diluting with water or using as is, when blended together, the visual effects are just glorious! These both get the thumbs up from me. For further details and to get hold of some, check out the Art from the Heart website. Click here.

Tests conducted on Bockingford 200lb rough and Seawhite Cartridge papers using a Noodler’s Creeper pen and an automatic pen.

And just to add – I’ll be running an ink art workshop at my studio in Rochester, Kent on Saturday 13th May 2023. 2 spaces left. Please click for details and email me if interested.

HEY! If you’re interested to know more about how to use fountain pen inks in more creative ways – whether it’s simply to observe their chromatic behaviours, or, to recreate one of my swatch cards, or, to learn how to use them in watercolour painting, illustration and calligraphy, why not check out my online course or, even better, sign up for a workshop?
