And another Diamine Reddit project hits the shelves. Previous projects have seen the Reddit Fountainpen community create what have turned out to be three international best sellers – Earl Grey, Aurora Borealis and Writer’s Blood. Many thanks to Phil Davies (Diamine) and Yun Xu (Reddit) for all their hard work. It was worth it.
Sailors Warning is based around a vivid coral with dark peach hues and is close to Pantone 2035U, but also includes a sparkling purple blue shimmer. Visually describing a deep red sunrise also known as a Sailors Warning this is a powerful ink.
Celadon Cat is a green / blue / grey shading ink packed full of chromo and nuance.
These two inks couldn’t be more opposite and as the saying goes ‘Red and green should never be seen except upon an Irish Queen.’ But maybe surprisingly, they actually do work rather well together as well as individually.

Both inks are now available from most decent online stationers.
And HEY! If you’re interested to know more about how to use fountain pen inks in more creative ways – whether it’s simply to observe their chromatic behaviours, or, to recreate one of my swatch cards, or, to learn how to use them in watercolour painting, illustration and calligraphy, why not check out my online course or, even better, sign up for a workshop?
