Painting with Nick Stewart’s 4 colour ink mix set

This a quick flyby video using my 4 colour fountain pen ink mix set. I chose to paint a cockerel as all the colours of his feathers and crop have to be mixed i.e. none of the colours are straight from the bottle.

As these are dye based, the mixing process is unbelievably easy, using a plastic mix palette and testing the colour on a spare piece of paper before applying, I used a little bleach for the white areas and my brand new orange carbon Kaweco for the small areas of black ink line work. If you want to learn about colour, using a limited palette of the four source colours is the way to go.
