I’ve been aware of this Chinese brand for a while now, but it’s hasn’t been easy getting hold of samples to swatch test. Certainly, I’ve been onto AliExpress and had a look at the volume of inks shown, but as I don’t speak nor read Chinese, I have no idea what’s current/obsolete nor how much?
I was very fortunate when just before Christmas Marjolein Coppens sent me some sample vials and here are the second batch. Many many thanks Marjolein! I don’t have any names for these, they just came with a number.
PENBBS 341 – A flat red oxide colour that has no chromatography. Blends with water but it’s not that interested. A weak reaction to bleach turning a dull green yellow.
PENBBS 233 – A flat pale blue that has no chromatography. Blends with water and gradates out to circa 40%. No reaction to bleach.
PENBBS 102 – A flat dark grey colour that has no chromatography. Blends with water but with difficulty. A weak reaction to bleach turning a dull yellow gold.
PENBBS 285 – A deep flat military green that has no chromatography. Blends with water but it’s not that interested. A weak reaction to bleach turning a dull weak green.
Make of these what you will. Flat colours with no chromatography and a limited reaction to bleach, if any at all. I’m assuming that these are some sort of agent resistant inks and belong to a wider group of colours that share the same characteristics?
I’d love to investigate this line further. So, if anyone can put me in touch with someone who could supply me with the full range of sample files that contact would be gratefully appreciated.
