De Atramentis Blacked Inks Test

Deatramentis_blacked01_Nick_Stewart

These five De Atramentis blacked inks are lovely and in many ways share similarities with the Cult Pens Diamines. They all blend with water easily revealing a great range of tone. All of them reveal a feint hint of great the outer edges. They all react with bleach turning gold – not so dramatically in the denser areas where sheening is apparent. All of these are great writing inks with good flow through the nib and the legibility is a given. From a creative standpoint, I feel that the Cult Pen Diamines are the more dynamic in terms of colour, depth and possibilities, but that said, these were produced for writing and they are a quality product.

Inks sourced from stationeryshop.scotland@gmail.com and www.gouletpens.com

All tests on Bockingford 200lb watercolour paper using Frankenflex pen Jinhao 159 with titanium zebra G flex nib.
