Ferris Wheel Press (FWP) have recently sent me a Bijou Ambrosia Indulgence to review. As a Creative Ambassador for FWP I mainly review their inks so this is something different and a welcome distraction from ink swatching.
Retailing at circa £129.99 (GBP) the Bijou is one of FWP’s more high end fountain pens. And first impressions are that it certainly looks it.

The Ambrosia Indulgence Bijou is distinguishable by its deep crimson sapphire lacquer finish and with a stunning play on light it looks simply fabulous! The intricately engraved double gold-plated brass grip section (individual to each of the fourteen different colour versions available) sparkles in sunlight and lifts the pen to a seriously glamorous and luxurious level.
The postable cap – also finished in that stunning crimson sapphire lacquer – comes with a double gold-plated hexagonal ring that prevents the pen from rolling.
Each pen comes with a unique FWP two-tone engraved No. 5 steel nib available in a choice of fine or medium. And with improved machining and threading accuracy, this high-quality fountain pen also comes equipped with a removable feeder unit that allows for easy maintenance.
This nib unit may well be a JOWO, but this will need clarification! But if it is, which I’m pretty sure it might be, then that opens up further possibilities for customisation with the complete range of #5 JOWO compatible nib sizes and types.
The Bijou also comes with a standard international size ink converter and as a whole is beautifully presented with a velvet pen pouch in a high quality branded slide box that just oozes luxury and you won’t be surprised to learn that it writes really well with a good ink flow too.
Of note, the Bijou is what I might describe as delicate and may be a little too delicate for individuals with large hands – for the larger handed, the Marquise might be more suitable? (Click for the Marquise review).

FWP are a quality stationery company. Their inks are great, as is the Bijou, and everything they do is presented and packaged to the highest of finishes. If I want to gift a friend – with the hidden agenda of tempting them back into proper handwriting (of course) – FWP are my first port of call – and the gifts are always well received.
So, another stunning product from FWP and a truly wonderful experience to boot. If you like the look of the Bijou and are tempted, FWP have given me a discount code that will get you 10-15% discount off their products. All you have to do is click here and use JA–NICK as the code. Please be aware that on the FWP UK website, many of the pens are currently sold out at this time (05.12.2025) but I’m sure there will be more stock available in the new year.
And HEY! If you’re interested to know more about how to use fountain pen inks in more creative ways – whether it’s simply to observe their chromatic behaviours, or, to recreate one of my swatch cards, or, to learn how to use them in watercolour painting, illustration and calligraphy, why not check out my online course or, even better, sign up for a workshop?
