Jacques Herbin Turquoise de Perse

Lawrence Savage at Exaclair very kindly sent me a sample of Turquoise de Perse to test. This is another great addition to the exclusive Jacques Herbin 1670 shimmer range.

Horeman

Turquoise de Perse is a vivid turquoise shading ink with a gold shimmer.
The image is something I created with the new ink and is based on a Persian piece of art created in the late 1600s around the time that Jacques Herbin would have travelled to Persia to source his sealing wax. The horsemen were famous for playing polo.

Interestingly, Neyshabur, where the turquoise precious stone comes from, is also the place where the renowned poet and intellectual Omar Khayam lived and is buried. The dome of his mausoleum is made up of Turquoise! Omar Khayam famously wrote in his rubaiyat ’the moving finger writes and having writ moves on’. Appropriate for calligraphers and writers don’t you think? And that’s why I have the horseman carrying a giant quill!

Persian Turquoise

The background actually mimics the Persian Turquoise stone vey well. See above for proof of that.

This vibrant and elegant colour is a lovely addition to the range. Retailing at circa £24.50 (GBP) a bottle, it’s available now at Cult Pens: Turquoise de Perseicon.

Tests conducted on Bockingford 200lb rough, Seawhite Cartridge Paper and Tamoe River papers using a Zebra G dip pen nib and an automatic pen.
