Thanks once again to Ferris Wheel Press for sending me another five inks to swatch test over the autumn months. Their inks just get better with each release.
Ferris Wheel Press is a design and stationery company based in Markham, Ontario, Canada, and have been making fine stationery for over ten years. Of significant interest to me is that this is the first ink producer that is offering the consumer an ‘experience’. It’s not just the ink that’s the hero here – the bottle and printed box are all equally as important as the stories behind each individual ink. And here we have another 5 shimmer inks and fabulous packaging to savour.

Hearty Harvest is a warm syrupy deep butterscotch coloured ink with a substantial amount of rose gold shimmer. And beneath that shimmer you get a brilliant reaction to bleach.

Crystal Blue Lagacy is a classic navy blue with a fabulous metallic blue shimmer which sadly is not reflected well enough in my images. Reacts to bleach with a neon gold. I like this a lot and used it in my Classic Boatober challenge.

Sugar and Spite is from the Once Upon a Time collection and part of the broader FerriTales range – loosely based around the tale of Hansel and Gretel. This is a bright purple with a pink shimmer and a neon gold reaction to bleach. And there’s even a hint of sheen too.

Frontenac Blue is allegedly inspired by childhood winters of snow and ice. This is an ice teal with a blue shimmer fabulous chromo and a neon reaction to bleach. My pick of the bunch!

Plaited Gold Tress is from the Once Upon a Time collection and part of the broader FerriTales range – based upon the story of Rapunzel. This is a golden yellow with a gold shimmer and a neon reaction to bleach. There is also a good range of colour here from yellow ochre to lemon yellow.

And HEY! If you’re interested to know more about how to use fountain pen inks in more creative ways – whether it’s simply to observe their chromatic behaviours, or, to recreate one of my swatch cards, or, to learn how to use them in watercolour painting, illustration and calligraphy, why not check out my online course or, even better, sign up for a workshop?
